Delete your account & data

This page explains how to request deletion of your ClearCut account and the data associated with it, what gets deleted, what may be kept, and for how long.

In short: You can delete your account yourself, instantly, from inside the ClearCut app — no request needed. If you can't access the app, you can also email us. Either way, your account and the cloud data tied to it are permanently removed.

Option 1 — Delete it yourself in the app (recommended)

ClearCut has a built-in, one-tap permanent deletion. This is the fastest way and takes effect immediately.

  1. Open ClearCut and go to the Account tab (Settings).
  2. Scroll to the Account section and tap "Delete account".
  3. Read the confirmation, type DELETE to confirm, and tap Delete.
  4. Your account is deleted right away: you're signed out, your cloud profile and group/trip/budget memberships are removed, and all data on the device is erased.

For your security, Google may ask you to sign in again first — if so, sign out, sign back in, and tap Delete account once more to finish.

Option 2 — Ask us by email

If you can't open the app, we'll delete your account for you.

  1. Send an email to support@getclearcut.org.
  2. Use the subject line "Delete my ClearCut account".
  3. Send it from the same email address you used for Google sign-in, or include the phone number you used for OTP sign-in, so we can verify and locate your account.
  4. We will confirm and complete the deletion, then email you when it's done.

How long it takes

In-app deletion is immediate — your account and cloud profile are removed as soon as you confirm. Email requests are processed within 30 days. In both cases, copies in routine encrypted backups are purged within 90 days. We do not retain your account data beyond these periods except where required by law.
