This page explains how to request deletion of your ClearCut account and the data associated with it, what gets deleted, what may be kept, and for how long.
ClearCut has a built-in, one-tap permanent deletion. This is the fastest way and takes effect immediately.
DELETE to confirm, and tap Delete. For your security, Google may ask you to sign in again first — if so, sign out, sign back in, and tap Delete account once more to finish.
If you can't open the app, we'll delete your account for you.
| Data | Kept? | Reason / retention |
|---|---|---|
| Shared groups/trips/budgets created by other members | Kept for the other members | Records other people still rely on are not deleted; we only remove your membership and the personal profile data that identifies you. You can ask the group owner to remove the relevant entries. |
| On-device data (your local expenses, drafts, and SMS-derived spends) | Not held by us | This data lives only on your phone — it is never uploaded. It is removed when you delete it in the app or uninstall ClearCut. We cannot access or delete it remotely. |
| SMS messages / SMS content | Never collected | SMS is read and processed entirely on your device and is never uploaded, so there is nothing on our side to delete. |
| Email-server logs of invitations you sent | Limited period | Transactional invite emails may appear in standard mail-delivery logs and are purged on a rolling basis (within 30 days). |
In-app deletion is immediate — your account and cloud profile are removed as soon as you confirm. Email requests are processed within 30 days. In both cases, copies in routine encrypted backups are purged within 90 days. We do not retain your account data beyond these periods except where required by law.
